ABOUT US

THE MEANING OF TE MANAHUNA

Te Manahuna is the original Māori name for the Mackenzie Region, meaning "the place of enlightenment". We chose this name for our cottage as living here has been an uplifting and enlightening experience for us, especially being so in touch with nature. We connect to our environment every day, through caring for our land, enjoying the magical presence of the Ben Ōhau mountain range, and enjoying fresh mountain air and spring water. At night, we feel linked with the universe as we look upon dark skies filled with stars.

We hope that our guests will re-connect with nature during their stay, and leave our place feeling enlightened and be inspired to look after their own environments as best they can for future generations.

Hi, we're Amy and Jason! We both work from home (in digital marketing) and we love hosting guests and meeting new people. Jason is originally from America (Illinois/Wisconsin) and Amy is from New Zealand's West Coast.

Our hobbies include playing and listening to music, hiking, and swimming. We've lived in the Mackenzie Region for over 14 years and have great local tips to share with our guests. We look forward to welcoming you to our place soon!
